Aims of Central Region
Central Region branches will have the opportunity to comment on the following aims before publication.
Generally, UNA Central Region will aim to:
Find and help to satisfy the wants and needs of UNA branches and groups within the region.
Build upon Central Region’s past achievements and contribute to a vision of a safer, fairer, and more sustainable world.
Pay particular attention to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals especially SDG 13: Climate Change and SDG 17: Building Partnerships.
Support and amplify the work and power of branches, of UNA groups and of regional grassroots changemakers within the Central Region.
Assist potential partners in building movements for holistic transformation of the United Nations and of ourselves in the Central Region.
Convene meetings of key players from branches and potential partners to promote their aims and help find solutions to their problems.
With regard to UNA UK, UNA Central Region will aim to:
Live the values of UNA UK: Boldness, Accountability, Intersectionality and Solidarity
Explain how the UN works in connecting people and organisations to UNA UK values.
Take actions to help branches have more effective communications with UNA UK.
Support UNA UK in stimulating debate and action on how to make the UN more effective, transparent, inclusive and accountable.
With regard to Recognition, UNA Central Region will aim to:
Recognise and help develop undiscovered talent within UNA branch membership.
Identify and encourage potential UNA members within grassroots changemakers.
Create and publicise various forms of recognition to deserving members, partners, groups, and communities for their contribution to the UNA vision, mission and values. This recognition will serve as a basis for spreading best practices, for the recruitment of new members and for retention of existing members.
Create an annual summary of recognised achievements.
Use recognition to develop and strengthen existing links with partners over time.
Inform UNA UK about recognitions for consideration in its strategic planning process.
Regarding Communications, UNA Central Region will aim to:
Develop websites and other means of communication to help branches with their communication needs and develop their own communication capacity.
Facilitate the communication between branches so they can share good practice and projects, and develop new projects on a region-wide basis.
Take advantage of all channels and means of communication including social and news media.
Operate an accessible and transparent communication style.
Regarding Leadership succession planning , UNA Central Region will aim to:
Be aware that leadership succession planning is essential for the sustainable development of the Central Region in a fast-changing world.
Identify and engage with potential future Central Region leaders.
Encourage teamwork in all aspects of work rather than rely too much on individuals.
