DESCRIPTION:On 18 January Warwick District UN Association will host a talk by Dr Helen Liebling who will address the meeting on the subject \nConflict\, Resilience\, and Justice: Tackling Sexual & Gender-Based Violence in Africa \nThis talk will be held in Leamington Spa Baptist Church\, Chandos Street\, Leamington Spa\, CV32 4RN and also online via this link. \nTea\, coffee\, and biscuits will be provided from 12:00. Bring your own lunch if desired. \nThe talk will be preceded by a short AGM from 12:15 to 12:25. The talk will run from 12:35 to 13:45 pm. \nDr. Liebling is a globally recognised expert in conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and torture\, with over 25 years of ground-breaking research and advocacy. She has worked extensively in Uganda\, Liberia\, Rwanda\, South Africa\, and the Democratic Republic of Congo\, collaborating with renowned organisations such as the Women’s International Peace Centre\, West Africa Network for Peace-building\, and Tearfund. \nThe talk will include \n\nPersonal Stories: Highlights from her autobiography\, Nalule’s Travels and Adventures.\nExpert Analysis: Insights into empowering survivors and advancing their rights.\nInnovative Solutions: How community-led programs like CLAMP are transforming refugee support.\n\nHelen has authored four influential books and numerous peer-reviewed articles\, advancing global understanding of trauma recovery and justice for survivors. Her innovative initiatives\, such as the CLAMP project\, train refugees as peer counsellors\, offering transformative support to survivors in refugee settlements.
