SUMMARY:UN Climate Conference COP28 Report
DESCRIPTION:Warwick District UNA will hold a meeting on 20 January where\, after a short AGM\, two speakers will address the question: \nUN Climate Conference COP28 – Was it a success or another “talking shop”?\nThe guest speaker will be Sarah Millar\, Programme Director\, Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG). \nAlso present at COP28 Conference was a Branch committee member Jason Garrett from Leamington Spa who works for World Vision and he will also make a contribution to the debate. \nThe meeting will be held at Leamington Spa Baptist Church\, Chandos Street Leamington Spa\, CV32 4RT. \nIt will also be available online at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89190086667?pwd=ZktIaW5pQTl5bnlBRzRZMXl5STE3UT09 \nBoth Sarah and Jason attended the UN COP28 conference in Dubai. They both will explain and give their feedback on the Conference i.e. their expectations and experiences and whether COP28 was a success and delivered what was on the table and plus moving forward. The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC\, more commonly known as COP28\, was the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference held from 30 November until 12 December at Expo City\, Dubai\, United Arab Emirates. \nSarah Millar works at the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG) as a Programme Director. Prior to the CECG\, Sarah worked for 5 years as a climate change specialist consulting for C40 Cities\, Bloomberg Philanthropies\, Unilever\, the Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group and the World Green Building Council. Sarah has worked at the heart of the COP process from within the UK Government\, leading its international stakeholder engagement from Copenhagen to Paris. Before joining the UK Government\, Sarah worked in Brussels for 8 years on EU climate and environmental policy for the Mayor of London\, the Confederation of British Industry and in the European Parliament. Sarah has studied at the University of Hull\, Université Robert Schuman Strasbourg and CERIS in Brussels. She is a senior associate at the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
